CINDERFALL
Hold the gate. Or lose everything.
The dead won't stop. Neither can you.
You are the last gun on the wall. Everything walking the ash road is coming for the gate behind you, and nobody is coming to relieve you.
You pull the trigger
No auto-targeting. You sweep your own rifle and fire it yourself. Bullets travel, recoil climbs with every shot, and the reticle only turns gold when your line is genuinely on a head. Land it and it hurts. Rush it and you're spraying into the dark while they close.
Cover what you can't watch
Salvage cut from the dead buys turrets on the wall: steady rifle emplacements, ballistae whose bolts ignore armour entirely, pyres that burn everything close with no favourites, hexcasters that drag the walking meat to a crawl. Upgrade a few or spread them thin, because the road doesn't stay a road. Hold long enough and a second approach opens from the far side, then a third: short, direct, and fast to your gate.
Loot is real. Getting out with it is the game.
Gear drops from the things you kill, but none of it is yours until you carry it back through the gate. Fall back between waves and it goes to your stash. Push for one more wave and lose, and every scrap stays in the ash with you. Your supplies work the same way: frag charges, spike traps, incendiary rounds and gate repair kits are requisitioned from the quartermaster between watches, carried out at your own risk, and gone if the gate falls.
The ground gets worse
Survive and the world beyond the gate curdles. The ash road gives way to the breach, then the deep ash, then the warden's ground, where the bosses walk and the only relics worth having finally drop.
One more wave. How far can you push?
